Immersio reads text that is already visible on your screen, recognises it, and shows a translation in an overlay window. This page explains exactly what that involves, what leaves your device, and what does not.
To read on-screen text, Immersio needs macOS Screen Recording permission. macOS asks for this permission itself, and you can withdraw it at any time in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Screen Recording.
Text recognition (OCR) runs entirely on your Mac using Apple's Vision framework. No image is transmitted for this step.
Only the recognised text is then sent, over an encrypted HTTPS connection, to Immersio's translation service, which forwards it to DeepL for translation and returns the result to the app. This text is not written to our database and is not logged. Neither we nor DeepL retain it after the translation is returned.
Immersio has no user accounts. We never ask for your name, email address, or any other personal identifier. We hold:
This information cannot be used to identify you personally.
Gem purchases on macOS are handled entirely by Apple through In-App Purchase. Apple processes the payment; we never see or store your payment details. We receive only a transaction identifier, which our server verifies with Apple before adding gems to your balance.
Your settings, selected regions, and translation history stay on your Mac. Removing the application removes them. Your gem balance is retained on our servers so that purchased gems are not lost.
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling. The only data sent outside your device is the recognised text needed to produce a translation and the identifiers described above.
All connections between the app and our servers use HTTPS. Payment processing is handled by Apple.
Immersio is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from them.
You can ask us to delete the data associated with your device identifier at any time. Write to support@getimmersio.com and we will action the request.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new date at the top.
